President Trump Revives Controversy Over Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Incident

President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at former Olympian David Hearn in a fresh wave of accusations regarding the alleged vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. In a series of posts on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that a "highly credible witness" from the National Park Service witnessed Hearn causing "violent" damage to the pool in broad daylight by tearing and tugging at its delicate coating. Trump asserted that this testimony was provided to the U.S. Attorney's Office as early as July, before vandalism charges against Hearn and others were dismissed by Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. Despite his renewed attacks on Hearn, Trump admitted that there had been errors during the contractor's rush to complete the job in time for Independence Day celebrations. The President acknowledged that no video or concrete evidence of vandalism exists beyond the damage itself. However, Trump's criticism of Pirro did not stop at her decision to drop the case. He labeled her actions as a "choking" and a "folding like an umbrella," in response to her decision to dismiss charges against Hearn. Hearn's legal team has since requested that his case be dismissed with prejudice, claiming that Trump's persistent public statements expose him to ongoing harassment. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool incident continues to generate controversy, with both parties seemingly unwilling to let the matter rest.
