Unveiling the Power, Maturity, and Allure: How 'Euphoria's Makeup Artist Transformed Characters for Season 3

The glamorous world of "Euphoria" took a significant turn as its third and final season premiered. Gone were the days of extravagant crystals, dazzling glitter, and intense makeup looks that had defined the series up until now. With the characters now transitioning into young adulthood, makeup artist Donni Davy was tasked with creating a look that mirrored their newfound maturity and complexities. "This season is about seizing power, fame, recognition, money, and control," says Davy. "It's a more raw and edgy exploration of the characters." For Jules (Hunter Schafer), the focus shifted from art school to making a living. "She ventures into the world of being a sugar baby to cater to the male gaze," explains Davy. In one pivotal scene, a bold red lip graced Jules' lips during dinner with an older man, symbolizing her attempt to adapt her natural appeal for this new environment. "Some of her looks are intended to feel a touch unsettling," says Davy. "She's trying to navigate a world that lacks color and is tailoring herself accordingly." A striking addition to Jules' look was black eyeliner under her eyes, creating a baby doll-like yet darker vibe that accentuated her sexuality in her interactions with men. Rue (Zendaya), on the other hand, wore nothing on her face. "She's living in her car and survival is her priority," says Davy. "Her look reflects her lost state." Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) continues to experiment with glam makeup, seeking male attention at every turn. However, this season sees a shift in Cassie's style – heavy eyeshadow, sparkly lip, long claw-like nails, and fake freckles inspired by TikTok and Instagram trends. As Cassie delves into the world of OnlyFans, her look evolves to become sexier and fiercer. Her hair becomes blonder, she's tanned, and she's leaving no stone unturned to garner attention in LA. "She's adopting a Pam Anderson, Marilyn Monroe vibe," says Davy. "She's trying every look possible to see just how sexy she can be." And attracting attention is Cassie's ultimate goal. The transformation of the characters' looks serves as an integral part of their stories in this final season of 'Euphoria', mirroring their personal journeys and struggles, making for a gripping and visually stunning conclusion to the series.
