Amal Clooney Shines Bright at Lake Como Fundraiser in Vintage John Galliano Masterpiece

Stepping out for a cause close to her heart, human rights attorney and activist Amal Clooney graced the shores of Lake Como's Villa Passalacqua in an exquisite vintage number by designer John Galliano. The star-studded event was held as part of the Clooney Foundation for Justice's fundraising dinner on Tuesday. Amal's choice of attire for the evening was nothing short of breathtaking: a sleek black slip dress adorned with intricate embroidered flowers, and a striking oversized chartreuse velvet bow that added a dash of drama across her torso.

This extraordinary piece hails from Galliano's fall/winter 2004 collection, a testament to Amal's appreciation for fashion history. The lawyer accessorized her look with cascading gold drop earrings and oversized Chloé sunglasses, adding an undeniable air of sophistication. In the company of her family, Amal held hands with her 8-year-old son Alexander, who was impeccably dressed in a tan suit and sandals, while twin sister Ella walked alongside George Clooney in a coordinating ensemble.

Amal has consistently demonstrated her love for archival fashion, recently sporting a vintage Thierry Mugler suede dress during a day out with husband George in Capri. In the past spring alone, she turned heads in a metallic gold gown by Alexander McQueen—originally worn by Cameron Diaz nearly two decades ago. Amal's decision to wear Galliano for this specific event holds particular significance, as it was recently announced that the 2027 Met Gala will honor the designer's work, a move that has sparked controversy.

As a long-time admirer of Galliano's designs, Amal frequently dons his creations and has worked with stylist Alexis Roche, the designer's longtime partner. Could Amal be making her return to the Met Gala next May? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: when it comes to making a statement both on and off the red carpet, Amal Clooney continues to set the bar high.
