Chiefs' Coach Eric Bieniemy Makes Emotional Return to Training Camp After Family Tragedy

After a harrowing two weeks, Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, made a powerful return to training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri this week. Amidst the turmoil that enveloped his family following a tragic incident at their Virginia home, Mia Bieniemy, Eric's wife, was shot multiple times by their son, Elijah, on July 26th. Elijah has since been charged with three felonies and remains in county jail since the night of the shooting. Thankfully, Mia is steadily recovering under the watchful care of Andy Reid. While Eric was absent from the practice field during this heart-wrenching period, his spirit never left the game. Remotely participating in team activities and strategizing with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Bieniemy displayed unwavering commitment to his team even amidst personal adversity. Passing game coordinator Joe Bleymaier ably filled in as interim offensive coordinator during Eric's absence. Now that he is back, EB takes charge once more of the Chiefs’ offense with renewed energy and determination.
