Heartbreaking Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed by Robert Carradine's Family Over Tragic UCLA Incident

In a shocking turn of events, the family of beloved actor Robert Carradine has filed a lawsuit against the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), alleging wrongful death, elder abuse, and neglect. According to the unfiled civil complaint submitted in Los Angeles on August 7th, Carradine's family claims that UCLA failed to adequately address his suicidal ideation before his tragic passing at the age of 71. In January, Carradine voluntarily admitted himself to UCLA's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital for help with ongoing suicidal thoughts. However, court documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that, despite telling staff about his struggles and expressing relief at being hospitalized in a "locked, structured environment," Carradine's hopes for successful treatment were not met. The lawsuit alleges that UCLA staff failed to check on Carradine for more than half an hour before his death, despite reporting otherwise on his observation sheet. Furthermore, the family claims that UCLA allowed a suicidal patient to enter a locked psychiatric unit with an article of clothing that could be used in acts of self-harm. The lawsuit states that Carradine attempted to take his own life 19 hours after he was admitted to the hospital and never regained consciousness, ultimately succumbing to anoxic brain injury five weeks later. Carradine's children filed the lawsuit to ensure that other vulnerable patients at UCLA Resnick are not neglected in the same way their father was. The family is seeking general, special, and economic damages, as well as additional wrongful damages.
