Travis Barker Reflects on Chilling Prediction Made by Daughter Alabama Before Fatal Plane Crash: "All the Signs Were There"

In a revealing interview, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker shared an eerie premonition made by his daughter Alabama before their devastating 2008 plane crash that claimed the lives of four people. On the latest episode of "On Purpose with Jay Shetty," Travis recounted how he nearly heeded a gut feeling to cancel a trip but ultimately boarded the ill-fated aircraft, causing a chain of events that would forever change his life. As a family man with three young children at home, Travis found himself in a predicament when both he and Alabama had uneasy feelings about the flight. The musician confided in his manager, who persuaded him to go forward with the trip, saying it was too late to cancel. However, Travis's daughter's warning stuck with him: "I say goodbye to Bama...She's like 'Dad, don’t go!' She's bawling and she doesn’t usually do that...She’s like 'The roof’s gonna come off,' and I’m like, 'What is she talking about?'" Despite the young child's haunting words, Travis and DJ AM traveled to South Carolina for a performance with Gavin DeGraw and Perry Farrell. Their return flight was scheduled for the following morning, but the rest of their entourage were eager to get home, leading them to book a last-minute private plane. Travis recalled questioning the booking process due to its hasty nature: "There are usually a bunch of hoops to jump through...I want to know everything, and none of that stuff happened." Upon arriving at the airport late at night, Travis described a foggy environment with only one small plane in sight. He felt an ominous sense of foreboding but chose to ignore it, telling his father over the phone about his fears before agreeing to take the flight: "I knew something feels off...Everything was there and I'd never felt like that before." Tragically, the plane crashed on its way back to California, killing the two pilots as well as Travis's assistant Chris Baker and security guard Charles Still Jr. The drummer and DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) survived but suffered severe burn injuries. Nearly a year later, DJ AM passed away from a drug overdose at the age of 36. In hindsight, Travis reflected on his decision to board the plane, stating that he would have refused if given the choice: "Older me would just say, 'I think I’m not going to get on the plane.'" Alabama's chilling premonition now stands as a poignant reminder of the accident that forever altered their lives.
