Tammy Fine Steps into New Role as Vice President of Talent Development at NBC News

Veteran NBC News producer, Tammy Fine, is taking on a fresh challenge. With an impressive career under her belt, which includes overseeing high-profile interviews during the first hour of "Today," Fine has been appointed as the Vice President of Talent Development at NBC News. In this new role, she will be spearheading initiatives aimed at nurturing the careers of existing talent and discovering promising new journalists who could join the esteemed team. Liza Eaton, who has been leading this function, will transition to a part-time position later this summer, reporting to Fine moving forward. The news was announced on Tuesday in a memo penned by Rebecca Blumenstein, President of NBC News Editorial; Cheryl Rosenbloom, Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources for NBCUniversal News Group; and Libby Leist, Executive Vice President of "Today" and Lifestyle Programming. Fine began her journey with NBC News as an intern on "NBC Nightly News" in 1993. She worked closely with the renowned anchor Tom Brokaw before joining "Today," where she rose through the ranks to become a senior producer. During her tenure, Fine has managed interviews with every living U.S. president. Her extensive duties at NBC News have seen her covering significant events such as the funerals of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, as well as travel to Cuba, India, Israel, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. She has also worked at MSNBC and served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University, teaching a graduate course on strategic communication in the digital age. Kristen Powers, who joined as a talent-development executive earlier this year, will now report to both Fine and Catherine Kim, Executive Vice President of Editorial for NBC News.
