Taylor Sheridan Stands Firm on Ed Harris' Role Amidst Controversy Over "Dutton Ranch"

After a heated outburst from Emmy-winning actor Ed Harris over his perceived insignificant role in the Western spinoff, "Dutton Ranch," co-creator Taylor Sheridan is reportedly unwavering in his decision to expand Harris' screen presence. A source close to the production revealed that Harris will indeed continue on the series and his character will have an even greater impact moving forward. According to the insider, Sheridan, known for his commitment to his promises, intends to deliver on his initial word and provide Harris with more substantial screen time. Harris, who portrays veterinarian Everett McKinney in the Yellowstone spinoff series, has been criticized for his perceived egotistical behavior by those close to the production. However, despite his prickly nature, Harris' on-screen performances have earned him high praise from the insider. In a scathing interview with Variety last month, Harris, 75, expressed frustration over the character development and perceived misrepresentation of his role in "Dutton Ranch." During the interview, he did not name Taylor Sheridan but made it clear that he felt misled about the extent of his involvement in the show. "I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was and what my character was going to do – and that I was one of the four main characters," Harris revealed at the "Dink" premiere in Los Angeles. "And that wasn't really the case." Harris claimed that his concerns were dismissed when he expressed feeling inconsequential on the Paramount+ show, ultimately leading to him being "really pissed off" when a scene he'd been promised was cut. Despite this, Harris remains signed on for Season 2, set to begin filming next year.
