Kelly Ripa, the beloved co-host of Live With Kelly and Mark, has shared some surprising news about her recent health journey. In an upcoming episode of the "Let's Talk Off Camera" podcast, recorded before her surgery, the 55-year-old television personality revealed she underwent a gum graft procedure that requires her to maintain silence for ten days. In this candid conversation, Ripa explained that the dental operation involves transferring skin from the roof of her mouth to cover her gums.

"I'm an over-brusher," she admitted, "so they’ve got to re-gum my gums!" Ripa also disclosed that she was advised to undergo the procedure five years ago but opted for it more recently when her dentist urged, "Now, you don’t have the luxury of time!" The dental treatment targets thinning gums or gum recession, and while recovery typically spans a couple of weeks according to Cleveland Clinic, Ripa's silence on the talk show will last until she heals.

In July, her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, confirmed her absence from taping as she recuperates from surgery. Consuelos humorously detailed the restrictions placed upon his wife: "She can’t talk, eat soft food, suck out of a straw, or have me pull down her lip for examination." He added that Ripa's dentist had initially suggested the procedure five years ago but with her ongoing career, she could not commit at the time.

Jonas Brothers member Kevin Jonas, who guest-hosted during Ripa's absence, jokingly declared that "silence must be the hardest thing" for the renowned conversationalist. Consuelos concurred, noting that their communication had largely shifted to phone calls due to Ripa’s current condition.
