Soap Star Steve Burton and Ex-Wife Sheree Battle it Out Over Daughter's Custody Amid Relocation Disputes

In a heated courtroom battle, General Hospital star Steve Burton's ex-wife, Sheree, has denied allegations of alienating their 12-year-old daughter Brooklyn from her father following their 2022 divorce. In recently filed documents obtained by Us, Sheree, 49, has requested a judge to allow her to relocate from California to Tennessee, despite Steve's recent return to the west coast. The mother of three argued that their daughter "has her own iPad," enabling communication between them via calls, texts, and FaceTime. According to Sheree, Brooklyn was never restricted from contacting Steve previously. The actress acknowledged that communication between the former couple is poor but accused Steve of making unfounded claims of alienation due to following the agreed-upon orders. The custody arrangement between the exes has been a point of contention, with Steve being granted time with Brooklyn once a month while living in separate states, and now having one weekend visit a month when school resumes. Before moving to Tennessee in February, Steve signed a new custody schedule that allowed for regular contact with Brooklyn despite her primary residence being with Sheree in Orange County, California. However, the actress claims that Steve's relocation was the second time he moved cross-country without their daughter, and she signed a stipulation she believed to be in Brooklyn's best interest. The stipulation allowed for frequent and continuing contact between Brooklyn and Steve while she remained with Sheree. According to the documents, the couple disagreed over the stipulation details, leading to Steve seeking legal action. As mediation began between the former spouses, Steve announced he and his family were moving back to California to be near Brooklyn. However, Sheree argued that Steve's plans have since changed, and he does not yet have a stable residence in California, which she believes strengthens her case as Brooklyn's primary caretaker. Sheree claimed that despite agreeing to Steve's requests for summer visits with their daughter, his plans on his move continued to change, making it difficult for Brooklyn. She also argued against ordering the young girl to stay in California where her primary care would fall to Michelle Lundstrom, Steve's current wife. In the filing, Sheree claimed that Steve's unstable living decisions complicate her desire to move to Tennessee, stating that she is turning to the courts due to a lack of reasonable coparenting. Her attorney further alleged that Steve's actions have forced her to seek legal intervention in order to do what is best for their daughter. Us Weekly reached out to Steve's legal team for comment but has yet to receive a response. The ongoing custody battle between the former couple continues as they navigate the complexities of co-parenting amidst their relocation plans.
