John Hinckley Jr.'s Words for Jodie Foster After Four Decades: "I Hope She Lives a Fulfilling Life"

In a recent interview on the "Mark Joseph Show," John Hinckley Jr., infamous for his attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981, expressed his wishes for Jodie Foster – the actress who was once the object of his obsession. "I hope Jodie Foster is living a wonderful life," Hinckley shared with host Mark Joseph. "To be honest, I haven't watched any of her movies lately, but I genuinely wish her well." The fateful day of March 30, 1981, saw Hinckley stationed outside the Washington Hilton, where he aimed to take President Reagan's life in an attempt to capture Foster's heart. Among the crowded onlookers, Hinckley fired six shots from his Röhm revolver at the president, injuring several members of Reagan's staff and Secret Service agents. A bullet ricocheted off the presidential limousine, striking Reagan in the chest. Heroic labor official Alfred Antenucci and agent Dennis McCarthy managed to bring Hinckley down shortly after the shooting. Hinckley was tried in federal court and found not guilty by reason of insanity for all 13 charges against him. His infatuation with Foster dated back to her days at Yale, long before the ill-fated assassination attempt.
