The Nightingale's Star-Studded Set Saw a Sibling Showdown - Dakota and Elle Fanning's Playful Push and Pull

Dakota and Elle Fanning, Hollywood's most enchanting sister duo, took their sibling rivalry to the next level on the set of their highly-anticipated film, The Nightingale. In a playful exchange that left the crew in stitches, the pair finally broke the tension of working together for the first time on a feature film. During an appearance on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, Dakota Fanning dished about sharing the screen with her younger sister Elle Fanning, who plays her on-screen sibling in the World War II adaptation of Kristin Hannah's bestselling novel. "We were a little nervous," Dakota admitted, "trying to maintain a veneer of professionalism while keeping our apprehensions hidden." Growing up, they often acted out scenes together in their playroom, but this time it was different. "We both knew that we couldn't fall back on our childhood dynamic," Dakota explained. "The stakes were higher; the pressure was intense." However, as production neared its end, the sisters' natural bond couldn't be contained any longer. "In one particularly steamy scene, it felt like the heat of the room wasn't the only thing building between us," Dakota laughed. "I asked Elle to move her leg, and she shot back that I was the one causing discomfort!" The exchange quickly escalated into a friendly spat, much to the delight of the production team who had been holding their breath throughout filming. Dakota recalled, "It was the only 'fight' we had on set – though it wasn't really a fight – but the crew was ecstatic because they hadn't seen that sisterly sparring before." The Nightingale, produced by the Fanning sisters themselves, tells the story of Vianne Mauriac and Isabelle Rossignol, two sisters who find themselves resisting Nazi occupation in France during World War II. Mark Rylance stars as their father, Julien Rossignol. The film is set for release on March 19, 2027. In the meantime, fans can catch Dakota and Elle Fanning's electrifying chemistry when The Nightingale premieres at a theater near you.
