Kailyn Lowry on the Importance of a Prenup Before Marrying Isaac Knighton

In a recent episode of "Unplanned," Teen Mom 2 alum Kailyn Lowry, 34, discussed the prospect of signing a prenuptial agreement before potentially tying the knot with her new boyfriend, Isaac "Ike" Knighton. With past marital experiences under her belt, Kailyn stressed the importance of such an agreement to protect her assets and maintain financial independence in any future union. Reflecting on her divorce from ex-husband Javi Marroquin, Kailyn recalled that she failed to secure a prenup during their marriage from 2013 to 2017, which ultimately led to complications when it came to dividing their assets, including two houses they had owned at the time. "The mistake I made in my divorce was not having a prenup," Kailyn said. "Even if it’s assets, my last attorney had told me that if you have anything valued over $10,000, you should get a prenup." Fortunately, both parties were able to reach a settlement that allowed each to retain one of the houses. Kailyn and Isaac began dating in 2025, and while the MTV alum acknowledges Isaac's financial independence, she emphasized that they have yet to discuss the topic of a prenuptial agreement. "I wouldn’t ever want him to feel like I was going to take his assets from him," Kailyn said. "We haven’t really talked about it." For his part, Isaac admitted that he had never considered signing a premarital agreement. "It's never crossed my mind because for me, getting married is 'til death do us part'," he shared on the podcast. Isaac, who also has a daughter from a previous relationship, stressed that he and Kailyn are "a team." While Isaac admitted it took him "a lot of maturing" to realize his goals, he was always upfront with Kailyn about his intentions. "I want one solid individual in my life," he said. "I told her when we initially got together that I wanted to learn and see every phase of her moon." As the couple continues to navigate their relationship, the topic of a prenuptial agreement may come up in future discussions. For now, fans can only speculate about the future of this potential power couple.
