Warrior Cats Unleash First Look at Animated Series Characters and Footage

Stepping into a world of fierce feline warriors, fans were treated to an exclusive sneak peek at the highly anticipated animated series adaptation of Erin Hunter's bestselling 'Warrior Cats' books. The grand unveiling took place at a star-studded event in Shenzhen, hosted by Tencent Video and Randong Studio Group. Series director Rodrigo Blaas, along with Zhou Wang, head of Randong Studio Group and vice president of content production at Tencent Video, led an intriguing behind-the-scenes tour, offering eager fans a glimpse into the creative process that has brought this beloved series to life.

The story follows four Clans of wild cats bound by ancient codes as one clan faces impending doom from a rival and its warriors begin to mysteriously perish. At the heart of the tale is Rusty, an ordinary housecat who finds himself thrust into the Clan's midst, ultimately rising to lead them in their time of need. A highlight of the event was a stunning 3D character model of Rusty, personally crafted by Blaas and revealed for the first time to the eager audience.

This physical representation offered fans a tangible sense of how the cats from the book series are being reimagined for the screen. Tencent Video also debuted an exhilarating work-in-progress screening at the event, granting fans their first public glimpse into the animated characters and environments, as well as an early look at the show's visual direction.

For Blaas, the physical model served as a means to refine the characters outside of the screen as the animation progresses. During the same event, Blaas delved into his approach to adapting the 'Warrior Cats' universe for animated form and shared insights into how the series is taking shape creatively. Original Force is spearheading the animation of the series on behalf of Tencent Video, with A.C.

Bradley serving as showrunner and Blaas directing. The creative team is meticulously drawing from the books' characters and plotlines, using the first book arc, 'Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin,' as its foundation. The series is set to premiere in 2028 across Tencent Video’s platforms in China and Southeast Asia.
