David Foster Clarifies Rumors of Unwelcoming Behavior Towards Meghan Markle at Charity Event

In a recent turn of events, acclaimed musician David Foster has addressed rumors circulating about an alleged cold reception towards Meghan Markle at his star-studded charity gala. The 76-year-old composer, who hosted the event, has clarified that any suggestion of a snub was baseless. Speaking to People on August 12, Foster explained, "As the host of our David Foster and Friends Foundation event, I had already greeted Meghan and Prince Harry at the entrance before the red carpet encounter.

They were both gracious and spent time engaging with everyone present. There was no awkward moment or any intention to snub." He continued, "It's disheartening to see certain media exploit a seemingly simple positioning for clickbait, twisting an ordinary event into a misleading narrative." The incident in question occurred during the 40th anniversary gala for Foster's David Foster Foundation on August 8.

A viral video showed Foster walking past Meghan and Prince Harry without acknowledging them upon arrival. However, Foster and his wife Katharine McPhee later returned to take photos with the royal couple. Meghan had shared a behind-the-scenes look at her and Harry's night out at the charity event on social media over the weekend. The couple was also seen greeting members of a bagpipe and drum band backstage in a sweet video post.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were among several A-list guests attending the gala, which included Bill Gates, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. The Times Colonist reported that the fundraiser collected over $14.5 million in donations after four individuals pledged $1 million each. Foster and McPhee have a long-standing friendship with the royals, having supported each other at various events throughout the years.

Interestingly, Meghan and McPhee also attended the same high school. The charity gala was one of several festivities organized to celebrate Foster's foundation, which he established in 1986 to aid children in need of life-saving organ transplants. A free concert featuring Foster and his friends took place at Victoria's Inner Harbour on August 8. Initially announced in March, the gala aimed to bring together the David Foster Foundation's top donors with children whose lives were saved by their contributions.
