Diddy Hits Back: Alleges Videographer Stolen Footage, Sold to Netflix for 50 Cent's Documentary

In an unexpected twist, Sean "Diddy" Combs has accused a former videographer who previously alleged sexual assault against him of stealing footage from the hip-hop mogul and illegally selling it to Netflix for use in 50 Cent's highly anticipated documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Combs, 56, filed a countersuit against Rodney Jones on August 11th, claiming that Jones used his access to Combs during a trip to St.

Barts in 2022 to steal valuable footage intended for Diddy's own forthcoming documentary, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. Diddy's lawyers argue that Jones, 38, was one of several videographers on the trip but suspect that he secretly stole another cameraman's footage and took steps to conceal his alleged theft. The lawsuit alleges that Jones later sold this stolen footage to Netflix for use in 50 Cent's December 2025 docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

According to Diddy's legal team, the music mogul only became aware of the theft when it was aired on Netflix, causing an unexpected conflict with the streaming giant. Initially, Netflix denied Diddy's complaints, stating that the project had no ties to any past conversations between Sean Combs and Netflix. However, Diddy's countersuit against Jones also accuses him of defaming Combs by repeating false sexual assault allegations during his interview for Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

This is in addition to the original lawsuit filed by Jones in February 2024, where he accused Diddy and others of sexual assault and sexual harassment. As the legal battle between Diddy and Jones unfolds, the music mogul is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence for transportation to engage in prostitution, following his conviction in October 2025. Diddy has maintained his innocence throughout the criminal trial.
