Roseanne Barr's Son Speaks Out: "The Conners" Cast Betrayed My Mother

In an explosive revelation, Roseanne Barr's son, Jake Pentland, has accused the cast of the hit sitcom "Roseanne" of conspiring to steal his mother's life's work following the show's controversial cancellation in 2018. Taking to Instagram, Michael Fishman, who portrayed Roseanne's on-screen son D.J. Conner, asserted that ABC was right to axe the reboot due to Barr's inflammatory tweet likening former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to a monkey and the Muslim Brotherhood.

However, Pentland claims his mother was the one who suffered the most, with the cast exploiting Roseanne's social media gaffe to seize creative control of the show. According to him, the cast never bothered to understand the context behind Barr's tweet or give her an opportunity to defend herself publicly. The controversy erupted in May 2018 when Barr posted a since-deleted tweet that sparked widespread outrage and ultimately led to ABC canceling the highly successful revival of the show just hours later.

The network went on to produce "The Conners," a spinoff featuring much of the original cast but without Barr, who voluntarily relinquished her financial and creative rights to enable the series' continuation. Despite Michael Fishman's claims that he still holds Roseanne in high regard, acknowledging that good people can make mistakes, Pentland remains unforgiving, telling TMZ, "I wish him well in his future endeavors.

I hope selling out my mother was worth it for him." Fishman remained a part of "The Conners" until 2022, with the show running for three more seasons before airing its series finale in April 2025. However, it seems that the rift between Barr and her on-screen family may never be fully mended.
