Jessica Lange Makes a Triumphant Return to 'American Horror Story' Season 13, Demands a Musical Number!

In a thrilling turn of events for the devoted fans of 'American Horror Story,' the iconic Jessica Lange is set to grace our screens once more in Season 13. Co-creator Ryan Murphy dished on how he lured the legendary actress, now 77 years young, back into the fold and revealed a surprising condition - she insisted on a musical number. During an exclusive interview with Vogue, published Wednesday, Murphy shared that Lange was an indispensable component of season 13, which promises to bring back fan-favorite characters from across the entire series as they unite to battle an ultimate evil.
According to Murphy, the season's number 13 holds significant weight in the horror genre, and he believed it necessary to craft a greatest hits-style season with Lange at its helm. "I knew that I could only do it with Jessica," he explained. "So we had dinner ... and I pitched her, and she said, 'Great. I'm in as long as I have a musical number.'" Lange's unforgettable performances in the FX series have earned her multiple accolades, including two Emmys, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild award for her portrayal of Constance Langdon in the first season, 'American Horror Story: Murder House.' Her musical numbers, such as "The Name Game" from Season 2 and David Bowie's "Life on Mars" in Season 4, have left an indelible mark on viewers.
Despite previously expressing that she was done with the series after appearing in four consecutive seasons, Lange made a cameo in Season 8, 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse,' in 2018. It seems that the allure of returning to the AHS universe proved too strong to resist. Fans can look forward to season 13 of 'American Horror Story' debuting on FX and Hulu on September 24th.
