Corrections Policy
Fixing Our Mistakes.
We are committed to accuracy. When we make errors, we correct them transparently and promptly.
How We Handle Corrections
When we identify a material error in a published story, we take the following steps:
- We correct the error in the article text
- We update the "Last updated" timestamp to reflect when the change was made
- For significant errors, we add a correction note at the top or bottom of the article
- We document the correction in our internal records
What We Correct
We correct factual errors, including:
- Incorrect names, dates, or locations
- Misquoted or misattributed statements
- Wrong statistics or data
- Technical errors that affect the meaning of the story
We do not typically correct minor typographical errors or style changes after publication, though we may update these during routine maintenance.
What We Don't Correct
We generally do not issue corrections for:
- Changes in opinion or editorial perspective
- Updates to developing stories (these are handled as story updates, not corrections)
- Minor formatting or grammatical changes
Reporting an Error
If you believe we have published an error, please contact us at [email protected].
Please include:
- The URL of the article in question
- A description of the error
- Any supporting information or sources that clarify the correct information
We review all correction requests and respond within a reasonable timeframe. If we determine a correction is warranted, we will make the change and notify you.
Transparency
We believe in transparency about our corrections. When we make a significant correction, we may:
- Add a correction note at the top or bottom of the article
- Update the article's timestamp
- Issue a correction on our social media channels if the error was widely shared
Our goal is to maintain the trust of our readers by being honest about our mistakes and correcting them promptly.
