Melissa Rycroft Evades Jail Time Following DWI Arrest: Plea Deal Details Revealed Exclusively

In an exclusive reveal, former Bachelor contestant and Dancing with the Stars champion Melissa Rycroft has steered clear of jail time following her DWI arrest last September. Rycroft, 43, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence on August 6, and on Monday, August 10, a judge endorsed her plea agreement. According to court documents obtained exclusively by Us, the Texas native was sentenced to 20 months of probation rather than serving 280 days behind bars. Rycroft's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level during the arrest was reportedly .26 percent, more than triple the legal limit in Texas. In addition to a $2,000 fine, Rycroft will pay an extra $87 in court fees, totaling $2,087 owed to the state. The judge ordered her to complete 36 hours of community service within 120 days and enroll in a DWI education program. Furthermore, she must install a "camera equipped ignition interlock device" in her vehicle and submit to periodic substance abuse screenings, evaluations, and urine tests as directed by the court. Rycroft is also prohibited from consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages during her probation. The judge mandated Rycroft to attend counseling, education, or treatment as advised, participate in monthly check-ins with Texas' Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD), and allow supervision officers to visit her home or another location "at any time." Should her employment status change or she move residences, Rycroft must inform her supervisor immediately. Rycroft cannot refuse a breath, blood, urine, or field sobriety test as requested by law enforcement officers or supervision during her probation period. The plea deal precludes Rycroft from appealing the court-stipulated terms. The criminal district attorney's office recently filed their expert witness list, claiming Rycroft has a questionable reputation in the community regarding her adherence to laws. Rycroft's sentencing comes nearly a year after she was arrested for DWI in Tarrant County, Texas, in September 2025. Shortly following her arrest, Rycroft expressed her struggles on Instagram: "Life really sucks right now and I'm struggling, but I'm trying to march forward."
