Brad Pitt's Shocking Surprise at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding Sparks Conversations on Sobriety

The glamorous wedding of pop sensation Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce was an unforgettable affair, but one guest in particular left a lasting impression - Brad Pitt. Insiders revealed to Page Six that the "Ocean's Eleven" actor was spotted enjoying drinks at the high-profile event on July 3, which took place at Madison Square Garden and saw appearances from stars like Adam Sandler, Paul McCartney, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Tom Cruise, and more. Pitt's attendance at Swift and Kelce's wedding with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon was not the only surprise - just last week, in an interview with Esquire, Pitt confirmed he had made the decision to drink again. "I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," Pitt confessed, adding that his drinking has been more "restrained." Pitt explained that while he can have a few glasses of wine, he "can't have a lot." The actor first spoke about his sobriety in a 2019 New York Times interview, where he revealed he had joined a 12-step program and removed his drinking privilege after an alleged 2016 drunken incident on a plane that is said to have contributed to the disintegration of his marriage to Angelina Jolie. Jolie claimed in court documents that her then-husband physically harmed her and one of their six children - Maddox, now 25, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18. The FBI investigated but ultimately did not bring any charges against the two-time Oscar winner. Pitt and Jolie were declared legally single in 2019 and settled their divorce in 2024. Pitt is currently estranged from most of his children, and several have dropped his last name. In the candid interview, Pitt also opened up about a dark period in his life, admitting he once felt suicidal while navigating "family stuff." "I’ve never been suicidal except for one little period. And in that one little period, I just thought — I just couldn’t — just didn’t see a way out," the "Fight Club" actor said. "The pain was so oppressive that — I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel — I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief." He continued, "And I thought, ‘Oh, OK, now I understand’ — I understand suicide, in the sense that it’s just relief. It’s just looking for relief from the pain. But I also think we have incredible survival instincts. And for me, that immediately kicked in, but it was just…" After a pause, Pitt said, "This s--t ain't easy. And you’re talking to a guy who won the lottery." When asked about his current family situation, Pitt replied, "Family stuff. We could leave it at that." Pitt is set to star in several upcoming movies, including "Heart of the Beast," an untitled project written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, and "The Riders."
