Legendary TV Visionary Jerry Katzman Bids Farewell at 89

In a poignant farewell to the world of entertainment, the inimitable Jerry Katzman - the former president of powerhouse agency William Morris and trailblazing television packager for beloved series like "Roseanne" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," passed away on August 9. He was 89 years old. Known for his pivotal role in shaping modern television, Katzman's work in television packaging and show distribution played a significant part in the success of iconic programs such as "The Cosby Show" and "Murphy Brown." His career with William Morris began in business affairs, escalating to head of worldwide television, then president and vice chairman. Born on April 21, 1937, in Los Angeles, Katzman shared a lifetime of love and laughter with his wife Carol Sinn for an astonishing 66 years. As his obituary states, the couple never missed a chance to celebrate their family's milestones - from birthdays to anniversaries, weddings, graduations, and holidays. In the face of Parkinson's disease, Katzman bravely persevered for several years. He leaves behind his wife Carol, children Jeff, Jon, and Kari, seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. A celebration of Katzman's life will be held on August 13 at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W. Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, beginning at noon.
