Jenna Ortega's Sister Speaks Out on Fan Concern Over Actress' Weight Loss

In a heartfelt response, Jenna Ortega's younger sister Aliyah Ortega has put social media users on notice, urging them to respect the privacy of the "Wednesday" star amidst growing concerns over her weight loss. Aliyah's impassioned Instagram post came in response to a viral outpouring of worry from fans, sparked by an Esquire interview published Tuesday where Jenna opened up about her struggles as a child actor.

Aliyah's post, which garnered three exclamation points from the actress herself, urged fans to "mind [their] business and leave @jennaortega alone." The post went on to highlight that people have been making assumptions about Jenna’s health, but stressed that everyone deserves privacy and support. The message also touched upon Jenna's recent admission that she would often go all day without eating or drinking on set as a child star to avoid being a burden.

The post read: "We don’t know what she may be going through, and we shouldn’t assume anything based on appearances or a few comments from an interview." The post continued, reminding fans to "stop concerning yourselves with her personal life and asking intrusive, unnecessary, and random questions. ... Just leave Jenna alone and allow her to live her life on her own terms." So far, the "You" alum has yet to publicly address the online chatter that follows in the wake of Ariana Grande's recent announcement of a step back from the spotlight due to health concerns.

Jenna's representative has yet to comment on Page Six’s request for clarification. Jenna, who hails from a family of four siblings, revealed during her Esquire sitdown that she first shared her acting dreams with her parents at the tender age of 7. The motivation behind her unyielding determination, she explained, was her parents' initial laughter at her ambition.

"That kind of was the root of everything," Jenna, now 23, said. "I never really stopped, because I’m very stubborn." The former Disney Channel star almost walked away from acting altogether when faced with the prospect of transitioning into more mature roles on shows like "Stuck in the Middle" and "Jane the Virgin". However, she found a newfound enthusiasm for her craft after landing the role in "You", which ultimately led her to reconsider quitting.

"I booked that show ‘You’, and then I went on that set, and I loved it and had the best time," Jenna recalled during an appearance on Kid Cudi’s “Big Bro” podcast in April. "I thought, ‘Yeah, there’s no way I could let this go.'"
