Muse Frontman Matt Bellamy Seeks Sole Custody After Ending 7-Year Marriage with Model Elle Evans

In a surprising turn of events, Muse's lead singer, Matt Bellamy, has filed for divorce from his wife, model Elle Evans, after seven years of marriage. According to reports, the split was due to "irreconcilable differences." Bellamy, 48, filed the petition on Wednesday and requested sole legal and physical custody of their two children— daughter Lovella, 6, and son George, 2.
The Grammy winner also terminated his ability to receive spousal support in the filing, mentioning that he and Evans have a prenuptial agreement in place. Evans has reportedly stated she will contest the custody battle, claiming the divorce has been a long time coming after years of an "unbearable" marriage. Neither Bellamy nor Evans' representatives have commented on the matter as yet.
Bellamy and Evans began dating in 2015 following their encounter on the set of the "Mercy" music video. The couple tied the knot in August 2019 in Malibu, California. Their first child, Lovella, was born in June 2020, followed by George in May 2024. In an interview with i Paper earlier this year, Bellamy disclosed his private separation from Evans, citing "a set of really unexpected circumstances" as the cause.
He went on to explain that the experience had a profound impact on him and made writing Muse's latest album, "The Wow! Signal," much more straightforward. Bellamy described the album as a "lifeline" and "catharsis," stating, "It was just 'Boom.' It would just pour out of me." Before dating Evans, Bellamy was in a relationship with actress Kate Hudson between 2010 and 2014.
The former couple share joint custody of their son Bingham, born in 2011. Hudson has praised the co-parenting relationship, expressing that it has even strengthened their bond. She told Women's Health in 2021 that Bellamy was determined to ensure their son felt like he was "gaining something, not losing something" when they ended their engagement. "I think it’s even bonded us closer—me, Matt, Elle and [my fiancé], Danny [Fujikawa] — because we have to trust that we're protecting each other," Hudson stated.
